वाल्मीकि रामायण परिचय :
वाल्मीकि रामायण (Ramayan in Hindi) एक संस्कृत महाकाव्य है जिसकी रचना महर्षि वाल्मीकि ने की थी। हिंदू धर्म में रामायण का एक महत्वपूर्ण स्थान है जिसमें हम सबको रिश्तो के कर्तव्यों को समझाया गया है। रामायण महाकाव्य में एक आदर्श पिता, आदर्श पुत्र, आदर्श पत्नी, आदर्श भाई, आदर्श मित्र, आदर्श सेवक और आदर्श राजा को दिखाया गया है। इस महाकाव्य में भगवान विष्णु के रामावतार को दर्शाया गया है उनकी चर्चा की गई है। रामायण महाकाव्य में 24000 श्लोक और 500 उपखंड हैं जो कि 7 काण्ड में विभाजित हैं।

वाल्मीकि रामायण रचनाकाल :
वाल्मीकि रामायण (Ramayan in Hindi) का समय विद्वानों की मान्यता अनुसार त्रेतायुग माना जाता है। आदिशंकराचार्य और विद्वानों के मुताबिक भगवान विष्णु का राम अवतार श्वेतवाराह कल्प के सातवें वैवस्वत मन्वन्तर के चौबीसवें त्रेता युग में हुआ था। श्री राम का जीवन काल लगभग 1 करोड़ 83 लाख वर्ष पूर्व का है। इसके वर्णित प्रसंग में भुशुण्डि रामायण, पद्मपुराण, हरिवंश पुराण, वायु पुराण, संजीवनी रामायण और पुराणों से प्रमाण दिया जाता है।
महर्षि वाल्मीकि परिचय :
महर्षि वाल्मीकि को कुछ लोग निम्न जातिका बतलाते हैं। पर वाल्मीकि रामायण तथा अध्यात्म रामायण में इन्होंने स्वयं अपने को प्रचेता का ओरस पुत्र कहा है। स्कन्द पुराण के वैशाख माहात्म्य में इन्हें जन्मान्तर का व्याध बतलाया है। इससे सिद्ध है कि जन्मान्तर में ये व्याध थे। व्याध-जन्मके पहले भी स्तम्भ नामके श्री वत्सगोत्रीय ब्राह्मण थे। व्याध-जन्ममें शङ्ख ऋषिके सत्सङ्ग से राम नाम के जप से ये दूसरे जन्म में ‘अग्निशर्मा’ (मतान्तरसे रत्नाकर) हुए। वहाँ भी व्याधों के सङ्गसे कुछ दिन निश्चित संस्कार वश व्याध-कर्म में लगे। फिर, सप्तर्षियों के सत्संग से मरा-मरा जप कर वल्मीक ( दीमक का लगाया हुआ मिट्टी का ढेर ) पड़ने से वाल्मीकि नाम से ख्यात हुए, और वाल्मीकि ने रामायण की रचना की। बंगला के कृत्तिवास रामायण, मानस, अध्यात्मरामा, आनन्द रामायण राज्य काण्ड भविष्य पुराण प्रतिसर्ग में भी यह कथा थोड़े घमाव-फिराव स्पष्ट है। गोस्वामी तुलसीदासजीने वस्तुतः यह कथा निराधार नहीं लिखी। इसलिए इन्हें नीच जातिका मानना सर्वथा भ्रम है।

It really doesn’t matter if last Kand (uttar kand) was written by Maharshi Valmiki or not.
Remember in practical world, all good things , or even a general sequence of events is not always palatable. If uttar kand says something which you are not able absorb directly, it only means you haven’t understood it the way it should have been. Therefore the resistance to accept it.
Know that any effort, creation or writing, if vetted thoroughly and compiled by many people over a long period of time, makes it better than just one person doing it. So if, uttar kand was added later or not doesn’t make it alien from Ramayana since the sages compiling it won’t have no lesser in enlightenment than Maharishi Valmiki himself, assuming it was a later addition.
So, take time to first condition your mind to see things non judgementally in a unbiased manner, then attempt to understand what is written in Uttar Ramayana. Learn Sanskrit first to decode meaning of Shlokas yourself than relying blindly on half cooked interpretation of someone in hurry.
You may only like it more, and find out Lord’s character more and more enchanting.
There must be a reason why the name ‘Rama’ is chanted eternally by the originator of world…the Lord Shiva himself!

It is indeed immaterial if Maharshi Valmiki was a Vyadh or Brahmin by birth. And what he was in his previous birth.
Kabir says: जात न पूछो साधु की, पूछ लीजिए ज्ञान। मोल करो तलवार का, पड़ी रहन दो म्यान।
That said, innumerable times, Puranas (see for example Vidyeshwar Samhita, Shiv Purana), try to make it amply clear that by birth alone a man can’t claim a stature or right to do things his father was doing. A Brahmin is not Vipra unless practising absolutely good conduct, penance and attainment of full knowledge of four Vedas.
A Shudra practicing good conduct, having inclination in knowledge of Vedas with full devotion for people’s welfare does attain same status as Vipra…there is no doubt in it.
Leave Shudra, an animal (Jatayu) makes Lord (Shriram) shed tears and attains last mukhagni rights from His hands just by his devotion. Mind you king Dashrath didn’t get this privilege despite being His biological father and a great Kshatriya!
